Two Year Musical Theatre Preparation Course
This course is designed for students between 16-19 who are looking for the correct amount of academic qualifications to continue their training into Higher Education, whilst still gaining daily high quality vocational training from professional tutors, in order to increase their chances of gaining places at leading colleges.
YEAR ONE
Year One is focused on general training in all areas of performance. Students break down each skill to develop a better understanding of their capabilities, and to re-enforce their confidence in their talents. They also sit various Grade 8 exams with Trinity Guildhall, London College of Music and LAMDA to gain the UCAS points which are necessary for entry later into higher education.
Exams include:
- Individual Acting — Trinity Guildhall
- Speech & Drama — Trinity Guildhall
- Musical Theatre — London College of Music
- Classical Singing — Trinity Guildhall
- Acting Performance Certificate — LAMDA
At the end of term three students perform an end of year show — and will have completed up to three of the above exams.
YEARTWO — OUTREACH
During their second year, students are prepared for entry into higher education colleges. Through workshops, talks and mock auditions they work together with these colleges, before eventually taking part in private auditions (which are for PPA students only).
The colleges we hold links with are:
London Studio Centre, Arts Educational, GSA, Mountview, Middlesex University. Students are welcome to audition for other colleges: all we ask is that they arrange these auditions themselves and give PPA good notice of their audition days.
PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE
This is a Drama based exam and will be taken in the second term. It will complete the UCAS point value that they will leave PPA with and is a Level 3 exam.
SHOWCASE
At the end of the second term, PPA presents a showcase of the students for colleges and potential agents.
FINAL EXAM
In the final term of their course, students take the ATCL in Performance with Trinity Guildhall, which is their last exam and a Level 4 Diploma in Performance.
